Efficiency and cost-reduction have become today's hot topics and Process Integration alongside with it. Process Integration is more than a buzzword: It is a concept with great potential for a huge increase in productivity and cost-reduction. It takes your data processing to the next level. During our Information Day "Process Integration with SAP PI" in Eindhoven we will give you detailed insights how Process Integration with SAP PI works in different business environments.

The workshop is build around the core components of the SAP PI integration platform. We will show the data-exchange between the classical SAP PI and various systems. Moreover, we will show you the steps to integrate and connect

Partnership between FHTW Berlin and cimt ag

Till Krüger, Steffen Rädke, Daniel Schöneberg, Dr. Thorsten Kuhlmann, Professor Dr. Reinhard Ginnold and Jens Hirschinger

Final presentation of semester project "Realization of integrated planning with SAP Integrated Planner"

The HTW Berlin (University of Applied Sciences) is the latest addition to the list of partner universities of cimt ag which already has academic ties with Leuphana University Lüneburg, the University of Applied Sciences Cologne as well as the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg Ostfriesland Wilhelmshaven.

From FHTW side, the Business Intelligence project was initiated and supervised by professors Dr. Jörg Courant and Dr. Reinhard Ginnold who lecture in the degree course Business Informatics (department IV). On part of cimt ag, Dr. Thorsten Kuhlmann, Steffen Rädke and Jens Hirschinger accompany this cooperation.

For a little more than two years now FHTW students can specialise in Business Intelligence when completing a Master degree in Business Informatics at FHTW Berlin.

The cooperation between FHTW Berlin and cimt ag allows students to experience the practical aspects of Business Intelligence and to deal "hands-on" with the topic.

There are a number of different cooperations already in place between cimt ag and FHTW Berlin:

  • Common definition of topics for bachelor and master theses in the area of SAP Business Intelligence and SAP PI (Process Integration)
  • Shared supervision of the theses
  • Offering internship positions for completing required traineeships within the scope of the bachelor programme
  • Guest lectures on SAP Business Intelligence and SAP PI by cimt ag experts
  • Sommon definition and mentoring of semester projects in the area of SAP Business Intelligence

First semester project related to Business Intelligence was presented in Hamburg

On February 2 2009, the final presentation of the first semester project took place in the Hamburg headquarters of cimt ag.

Next to Professor Dr. Reinhard Ginnold, students Till Krüger and Daniel Schöneberg took centre stage that morning with their final presentation.

For cimt ag, managing director Dr. Thorsten Kuhlmann as well as SAP BI experts Steffen Rädke and Jens Hirschinger were part of the audience.

The foundation for the joint project was laid in October 2008, which is guided organizationally and functionally by Steffen Rädke. The students who specialised in Business Intelligence picked a topic offered by cimt ag: "Realization of integrated planning with SAP Integrated Planner". In early December, a first draft was presented at FHTW in Berlin. This was followed by another presentation via video conference in January 2009.

As result of this cooperation, the prototype of an integrated planning with SAP Integrated Planner (SAP IP) was ready to be presented in February 2009.

On the one hand, the challenge for the students consisted of analyzing and reproducing the operational processes of corporate planning, including the special requirements for a SAP solution. On the other hand data modeling with SAP BI for actual and planning data was the focus. Here, the handling of several SAP applications (SAP BI backend, SAP IP, SAP Business Explorer Tools) as well as the understanding of interdependences in-between those applications had to be applied. All those factors together established a challenge for the development of the prototype, which was successfully managed by the students.

We would like to compliment the project members on this success and would like to thank everyone for the great cooperation.

For further information regarding Business Intelligence and the cooperation kindly contact Dr. Thorsten Kuhlmann.
