Management Cockpit - using SAP WAS in daily work

Management Cockpit is a simple graphic front end application visualizing data from R/3 making it comprehensible even for inexperienced users. The tool allows every user who is capable of navigating through the internet to browse different performance indices of the company from any location.

As Management Cockpit uses SAP R/3, SAP Web AS, XML, and Scalable Vector graphics, it is a future-proof application completely covered by existing SAP license agreements and maintenance contracts.

DESITIN Arzneimittel GmbH is a pharmaceutical company with own research and development as well as production facilities. DESITIN has made some significant innovations in the field of treatments related to the central nervous system (CNS) and is leader in this section of the German pharmaceutical market. Since the early '90s, DESITIN relies on SAP as a corporate-wide solution.

Now, the management team of DESITIN has access to key performance indicators from SAP as well. The company is using Management Cockpit, which has been specially developed by cimt. It combines the performance indicators from the different SAP applications and visualizes them and shows critical values at a glance. Management Cockpit is directly connected to the SAP modules Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Sales and Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), and Human Resources (HR). The seamless and complete integration in SAP R/3 provides managers as well as employees with the same level of information.

The objective of Management Cockpit is to visualize the performance indicators from SAP in a user-friendly and comprehensible way rather than adding another application to the range of query tools (e.g. BW, SEM, Report Painter, Query). This allows browsing valuable data even for employees who have no experience in working with SAP.

The tachometer can display any figure - und you decide about its movement.

Technology

Management Cockpit uses simple but future-proof technologies that enable to quickly generate sound graphics without much effort. The core of this technology is a combination of SAP Web Application Server and Scalable Vector Graphics. Scalable Vector Graphics can be easily configured and allow the user to quickly visualize any given aspect in a 2D business graphic.

Prerequisites

There is only one prerequisite for using Management Cockpit: the use of SAP Release 4.7 or lower in connection with SAP WAS, which we can implement as well.
