At the time of the release upgrade, the following automotive companies were connected to the German site of VDO (factory and sales division): Opel/GM, BWM/Rover, VW, and Toyota. To the French factory and sales division of VDO were connected: Renault and Peugeot/Citroen.

At both VDO sites, more than 80% of all orders are processed via EDI. During the release upgrade the EDI interfaces had to be adjusted to the new SAP functionality, as the Idoc (Intermediate Document) structure had changed from R/3 release 3.0F to 4.6. In about 30 EDI interfaces according changes to conversion and programming were successfully performed to adjust to this new Idoc structure.

Demands for implementation of further functions from the new release have already been identified and will be realized in the near future.
