Developing and building a b2b and service platform for the textile industry
Project scope
Textilio.com is a young Swiss startup venture which has been founded in 2000. Several German and Swiss companies with long-term experience in the textile industry were involved in the company?s foundation: Zellweger Luwa, Gherzi textile consulting, Intex, Hertex, Nef + Co, IAM Textile CAD:CAM, and VTMTex. Textilio.com wants to set up the first completely integrated online marketplace for the global textile industry, in order to enable an IRP (Industry Resource Planning) which optimizes the total system. The core service Textilio.com offers is a b2b trade platform, including an auction based and a catalogue based trade system. Around this core, Textilio.com aligns its strategic business units Infrastructure and Academy, providing the textile industry with e-business solutions and know-how about online activities. The service portfolio is completed by solutions that are part of the founding companies? core competencies. The platform relies on ARIBA solutions DynamicTrade (auction based trading) and Marketplace (catalogue based trading).
Right from the start of the project, employees of cimt AG were actively involved in the design and technical construction of the platform. Our team took over several tasks including the construction of Textilio.com websites based on Java Server Pages, the integration of DynamicTrade and Marketplace, the development of additional software using Java, as well as the update of ARIBA products.
Benefits
As, during the time of the outlined project, Textilio.com was a young startup venture, a flexible and dynamic partner was required. Designs regarding the construction of the platform needed quick elaboration and realization, requiring broad technical know-how about e-business solutions. Time pressure could be reduced by vigorous effort. On the one hand, due to the close co-operation with the employees of Textilio.com, the generated knowledge remained with Textilio.com. On the other hand, cimt AG benefits from the experience it has made in developing a global e-business platform.
